For many years, members of my family and many friends have encouraged me
to put my life story in print. I always seemed to have a story to relate
and I must admit, along the way, I had done some pretty interesting and
extraordinary things. There were a number of attempts at getting things
started but I always seemed to be too busy to find the time to relate it
all in a cohesive narrative where it would all come together in an
interesting manner.
My family and friends used to often say it was important to be able to
leave a record of my life for my grandchildren to read and for those of
my family that may follow, long after I’ve gone. It was never an issue
that appealed to me but the more I became involved the more I enjoyed
the experience. It was also a way of being able to tell my story in a
truthful way, no matter how others may have perceived me. My future
family will know my story, as seen through my eyes.
There’s no way you can remember or tell it all but if you string a few
interesting yarns together in a flowing timeline, we all have a story to
tell. I have been lucky enough to have finally had mine completed by a
lot of good people and I have thoroughly enjoyed reliving the
experience.
My sincere thanks also to Maria Sardi, Don Deceglie, Geoff Fry and
Sharon Cilliers of my Fremantle office, who have all worked so
diligently in bringing this biography to fruition. This story was
originally going to be produced in print form but my life is far from
over and I have so many charity projects that I still wish to complete
in Myanmar, my home away from home. I also wish to revisit indigenous
Australian charities that I had become involved with prior to my
involvement in Myanmar. In my mind the story is only half finished, so
there may be a few more chapters still to write and my staff suggested a
website, which gives me the flexibility to add a little bit more as my
life story continues or my brain releases another hidden memory.
My sincere thanks to all those who have been involved in getting my
story completed and I am the first to say, it wouldn’t have been
easy!!!!! But we got there!!
